Please review our frequently asked questions below. If your question is not answered below, please contact us.

Class Enrollment & Policy

Q: Can I enroll in a CPR class on the same day the class will be taught?
A: Yes; as long as the class is still open, you can enroll and pay online. If you are having trouble enrolling online, please contact us for other registration options.

Q: What do I need to complete before class?
A: There is nothing to complete before class. Please arrive 10 minutes early, casual dress and silence your cell phone. Snacks and drinks are allowed.

Q: Do you ever cancel a class for low enrollment?
A: Public courses will only be cancelled in cases where there is one student or less enrolled. Note: Workplace training classes are exceptions to this policy. We have a minimum enrollment requirement for these classes to proceed.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Your place in class is guaranteed upon receipt of payment. Cancellations received more than 24 hours before class start time will receive a full refund. Requests received after the stated course start time are not eligible for a refund or transfer. Course transfer is permitted if notice is given 24 hours prior to originally scheduled course. Students arriving after the class has begun or having to leave early will not be permitted to take the course.

Q: Do you offer classes to Spanish speakers?
A: Unless otherwise noted, all of our classes are conducted for English speakers. Proficiency in English is required to participate in, and receive a certification card for the class. The presence of a translator does not waive this requirement. Translators are not permitted in class. If you are in need of a class for Spanish speakers please contact us for additional information.

Training Curriculum & Requirements

Q: What training center/agency does CPR Madison teach through?
A: We are a training site for some of the states best CPR training organizations including the UW Health and the American Heart Association. These agencies follow the same protocol as all other CPR certification agencies in the United States, set forth by ILCOR, the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation. All of our courses are approved by OSHA and applicable state agencies for workplace training, as well as by many other organizations nationwide.

Q: Does CPR Madison teach the new CPR protocol?
A: Yes; In 2010 major changes to how CPR is taught were made. CPR Madison always stays current with any new training guidelines.

Q: I've seen online courses in CPR that are more convenient for me. What are the advantages of taking a course in a classroom?
A: While online courses may provide the same basic concepts as an in-class course, CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) is a motor skill, not a cognitive skill, that requires practice and repetition in order to learn effective techniques. Also, many employers will not accept online-only training. With CPR Madison, 90% of your class time is spent practicing on mannequins or participating in real life scenarios. Our instructors are there to help you with technique, answer any questions you might have, and most importantly, customize the class to your unique needs.

Q: Does CPR Madison provide me with the materials I need in class?
A: CPR Madison will provide a course outline at no charge to students at time of course. Additional, more detailed course materials are available at an additional cost. Please contact CPR Madison a minimum of 24 hours prior to your course time in order for instructor to prepare applicable course materials. Materials may be purchased at any time in our with course registration.

Q: Do you have renewal courses?
A: All of our courses are available for first time CPR students and those with previous training. Our classes are performance based - you will move through the skills at your own pace.

Certification Information

Q: Why do your classes take less time than traditional CPR classes?
A: We are a training site for some of the states best CPR training organizations, including and the American Heart Association. This allows us to offer the best program for each particular type of training. All of the organizations we represent share the philosophy that CPR is a motor skill, not a cognitive skill. More lecture does not lead to better retention. All of our classes spend the majority of the training time with actual "hands-on" practice and practical, real-life information.

Q: When and how will I receive my certification card?
A: CPR Madison is a licensed American Heart Association (AHA) training site operating in conjunction with the UW Health Emergency Education Center (UWECC); the UWECC is an authorized AHA training center. All certification cards are issued through the UWECC. Cards will be mailed to address provided upon registration within 30-days of course completion. If you need verification of class participation and certification prior to this, CPR Madison can provide this to you per your request. If your card is lost or stolen replacement cards incur a $13.00 fee. CPR Madison is only able to provide replacement cards for those students who have been certified through CPR Madison.

If you do not receive your certification card within 30-days of course completion please contact us.
